Furnace Installation

Furnace Installation in Vancouver, WA

We install gas and electric furnaces across Vancouver and Clark County — sized with a Manual J load calculation and commissioned with a full combustion-safety check, not a “looks good” and a handshake. It’s owner-operated: the technician who sizes and tunes it is the same guy who answers the phone. And if a heat pump — or a heat pump with gas backup — would heat your home for less, we’ll show you the math before you buy.

Efficiency

80% vs. 94% AFUE — What You’re Actually Paying For

AFUE is the share of fuel your furnace turns into heat over a season. An 80% AFUE furnace sends about 20% up the flue. A 94% AFUE condensing furnace squeezes extra heat out of the exhaust before it leaves — which is why it vents through PVC and needs a condensate drain instead of a metal flue.

The 94% costs more up front and burns less gas every winter. Whether that pays back depends on how hard you run it and your gas rate, so we’ll show you the break-even instead of just pushing the top tier.

The choice

Gas, Electric, or a Heat Pump?

  • Gas furnace — usually cheapest to run per BTU in Clark County if you already have a gas line. Comes in 80% or 94% AFUE
  • Electric furnace — simple and ~100% efficient at the unit, but electric-resistance heat is expensive to run — typically the priciest over a full winter
  • Heat pump / dual-fuel — moves heat instead of burning fuel and often beats an electric furnace outright; paired with gas, runs whichever is cheaper

We’ll tell you honestly which fits your home and your gas situation — not which one carries the fattest margin. Heat Pump Installation →

Measured

Why We Size It — Instead of Just Matching the Old One

“Same size as the old one” quietly assumes the old one was sized right and your house hasn’t changed since. We run a Manual J load calc instead. An oversized furnace short-cycles — blasts heat, hits the thermostat, shuts off, repeats — which wears out the ignitor and blower and leaves your rooms uneven. Right-sized runs longer, quieter, steadier cycles and holds an even temperature. Measured, not guessed.

Safety

The Part Most Installers Skip: Combustion Safety

A gas furnace produces carbon monoxide by design — the heat exchanger is what keeps it separated from the air you breathe. A cracked heat exchanger is how that separation fails, and you can’t see it from across the room. On every install we run a combustion analysis — measured CO, draft, and temperature rise — verify the heat exchanger, and confirm the venting is correct for the furnace type. That measurement is what actually keeps your family safe, and it’s exactly what gets skipped on a rushed same-day swap.

Options

What We Install

  • 80% AFUE gas — standard-efficiency, metal vent. Lowest up-front cost
  • 94% AFUE condensing gas — high-efficiency, PVC vent + condensate drain. Less gas each winter
  • Electric furnace / air handler — where there’s no gas, or paired with a heat pump

Keep it safe and efficient: two visits a year, combustion checked and measurements written down. Maintenance Plans →

Clark PUD rebate

Clark PUD may cover part of this

Clark Public Utilities pays these rebates on electrically heated homes only. Pick what heats yours right now and you will see the real number — including the cases where it is nothing.

Worth knowing before you sign: replacing an electric furnace with another electric furnace pays $0. Putting a heat pump in that same house pays $1,000–$1,250.

What heats your home right now?

Gas on the property is not what matters — only gas heat is. A gas water heater, range or fireplace does not disqualify you, and neither does a gas line at the street.

What you heat with nowWhat we installClark PUD pays

Electric furnaceCentral heat pump$1,000

You do not chase the paperwork. We confirm your home qualifies with Clark PUD before we start, file the rebate ourselves, and take it straight off your invoice. You never front the money and never wait on a check. Heisenberg is listed in the Clark PUD Heat Pump / Ductless Heat Pump Contractor Network.

Our basement recently flooded with all the rain we had, Roman came highly recommended by the company helping us clean up. He came out the same day to make sure our HVAC system wasn’t damaged from the 3-5 inches of water we had. He was kind, professional and we were grateful he could help us on such short notice. Would highly recommend!

Very happy with Roman’s service. Our mini splits are cleaner than they’ve ever been, wish we had him clean them sooner! And they aren’t rattling anymore. He was out within a day and paid great attention to detail — He caught things that two other technicians had missed with past routine maintenance calls. Pricing was fair too! No complaints!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a new furnace cost to install?

An 80% AFUE gas furnace starts at $3,850; a 94% AFUE condensing furnace starts at $5,150 — final price confirmed in writing after we size it. Electric furnaces and AC + furnace combos are quoted after a free on-site assessment.

Should I get 80% or 94% AFUE?

Depends on how much you run it and your gas rate. The 94% burns less gas each winter but costs more up front — we’ll show you the break-even for your home instead of pushing the top tier.

Gas or electric?

If you have a gas line, gas is usually cheapest to run. Electric-resistance heat is simple but the most expensive over a winter — and a heat pump often beats it outright. Heat Pump Installation →

Do you check for carbon monoxide and a cracked heat exchanger?

Yes — on every install. We run a combustion analysis (CO, draft, temperature rise) and verify the heat exchanger and venting. It’s the safety step that gets skipped on rushed swaps.

Can you reuse my existing venting?

Sometimes — but 80% and 94% furnaces vent completely differently (metal flue vs. PVC). We verify what your setup needs instead of assuming.

What size furnace do I need?

The size your Manual J load calc says — not automatically “same as the old one.” Oversized furnaces short-cycle and heat unevenly.

Do you pull permits?

Yes. Permit and inspection are included — not a surprise line item.

How long does an install take?

Most furnace installs are one day. If we’re also changing venting or adding AC, it can run into a second.
