AC Installation in Vancouver, WA
We install central air conditioning across Vancouver and Clark County — sized with a Manual J load calculation, not a glance at your square footage. It’s owner-operated: the technician who sizes the system is the same guy who answers the phone. And if your home would be better off with a heat pump — same cooling, plus heat in winter — we’ll tell you before you spend a dime.
The Size of Your AC Matters More Than the Brand on It
Bigger is not better. An oversized AC blasts the air cold, satisfies the thermostat, and shuts off before it ever runs long enough to pull the humidity out — so you get a cold, clammy house, short-cycling that wears out the compressor, and a higher bill for the privilege. Undersized, and it runs flat-out on the one week it’s actually hot.
We run a Manual J load calculation — windows, insulation, orientation, air leakage, duct layout — and match the outdoor condenser to the indoor coil (AHRI-rated as a system). The result runs long, steady cycles that actually dehumidify. Measured, not guessed.
What SEER2 Actually Means for Your Bill
SEER2 is the current efficiency rating — it replaced SEER in 2023 under a tougher, more realistic test. The minimum we can legally install in this region is 13.4 SEER2 (about 14.0 on the old scale). Higher SEER2 tiers cost more up front and save more each season — but that payback only shows up if the system is sized and installed correctly. In Vancouver’s mild-but-warming summers, we’ll show you the honest break-even instead of selling you the biggest number on the sticker.
New Systems, New Refrigerant
Since January 2025, new AC systems use R-454B, a low-GWP refrigerant that replaced R-410A. Every new system we install is R-454B. You may still see cheaper quotes built around older R-410A units from remaining stock — those are legal to install, but here’s the honest tradeoff: R-410A is being phased down, so the refrigerant needed to service that unit gets more expensive over its life. We’ll lay both options out and let you make the call with real numbers.
What We Install
Matched, AHRI-rated systems from efficient entry-level to high-SEER2. Two common setups:
- AC + your existing furnace — when your heating side is in good shape and you’re just adding cooling
- AC + new furnace — when the furnace is near end of life too; cheaper to replace both at once than twice
We size the equipment to your home and tell you honestly where a higher SEER2 tier earns its money back and where it doesn’t. Keep it running right: two visits a year keep the coil clean and the charge verified. Maintenance Plans →

These are estimated starting prices, not quotes — your final number depends on your home, equipment choice, existing furnace/ductwork, and install conditions. We size your system with an in-home Manual J load calculation — square footage alone oversizes equipment.
One Honest Question First
Cool AND heat?
If you’re replacing anyway, a heat pump does everything your AC does in summer and heats in winter — often for less to run. We’ll run the numbers both ways.

If the furnace is due as well, replacing both at once is cheaper than twice. We’ll size and combustion-test the new one.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a new AC cost to install?
From $5,150 for AC added to a working furnace or air handler, depending on home size — full price confirmed in writing after we size it. Replacing the furnace at the same time is quoted after an on-site assessment: that combo swings on line-set, access, and ductwork.
What size AC do I need?
The size your Manual J load calc says — not a ton-per-500-square-feet rule of thumb. An oversized AC short-cycles and leaves the house cold and clammy; the right size runs steady and actually pulls humidity out.
Do new ACs use a different refrigerant now?
Yes. New systems use R-454B, which replaced R-410A in January 2025. Every system we install is R-454B.
Should I just get a heat pump instead?
Maybe. A heat pump cools exactly like an AC and also heats — more up front, often less to run. We’ll show you the break-even for your specific home. Heat Pump Installation →
What SEER2 rating should I get?
At least the 13.4 SEER2 minimum for this region. Higher tiers pay off only with correct sizing and a long enough cooling season — we’ll show you the honest math before you pay for a number you won’t recover.
Can you add AC to my existing furnace?
Usually, yes — if the furnace/air handler and ductwork are in good shape. We check static pressure and coil match before quoting so we’re not bolting a new AC onto a bottleneck.
Do you pull permits?
Yes. Permit and inspection are included in the price — not a surprise line item.
How long does an install take?
Most straight AC installs are one day. AC + furnace together usually runs one to two.

Why “Heisenberg”?
Werner Heisenberg (1901–1976) was a Nobel Prize–winning physicist and a founder of quantum mechanics, best known for the Uncertainty Principle — there’s a hard limit to how precisely you can pin down two things at once.
We took the name for the opposite reason: in HVAC, guessing is the enemy. We measure what we do — load (Manual J), airflow, refrigerant charge — so there’s no uncertainty your system is sized and set up right. The science of comfort.
