AC Not Cooling?
Same-Day Repair in Vancouver, WA

Blowing warm, iced over, or tripping the breaker? We diagnose it by measurement — temperature split, refrigerant charge, capacitor reading, amp draw — not by guessing and swapping parts.

What we fix

AC problems we fix

Not cooling at all

Failed capacitor, burned contactor, a compressor that won’t start, or a tripped breaker. We measure to know which.

Blowing warm / not cold enough

Low refrigerant (a leak), a dirty coil, weak airflow, or a compressor losing capacity.

Frozen up / ice on the lines

Almost always low airflow (dirty filter or coil) or low refrigerant. Turn it off to thaw and call — running it frozen can kill the compressor.

Weak airflow

Dirty filter or blower, a clogged coil, or a duct problem choking the system.

Outdoor unit not running

Condenser fan motor, capacitor, or contactor. The unit overheats and shuts down.

Short-cycling

On and off constantly: charge, airflow, thermostat, or an electrical fault.

How we diagnose it

How we actually diagnose it

An AC is a sealed refrigerant loop plus a handful of electrical parts — and each fault has a measurable signature. So we measure: temperature split across the coil, superheat and subcooling, capacitor microfarads, and compressor and fan amp draw. That’s how we tell a $25 capacitor from a low charge from a failing compressor — before anyone talks about replacing the expensive part.

The honest one

“Low on refrigerant” means you have a leak

Your AC doesn’t burn or use up refrigerant — it’s a sealed system. So if it’s low, it’s leaking, full stop. Topping it off gets you cold air for a few weeks or a season, then you’re paying again — and venting refrigerant is both wasteful and against EPA rules. We find the leak (electronic detector or dye), show you where it is, and give you the honest call: fix the leak or, if the system’s old, put that money toward a replacement. Your choice, with real numbers.

The straight numbers

What it costs — and repair or replace

$99 diagnostic

Credited toward any repair over $500 — so if we fix it, the diagnosis effectively pays for itself. You get the measured findings and a written price before we do the work. No “trust me,” no mystery invoice.

The call comes down to age (most ACs run 10–15 years), the repair cost against a new system, and refrigerant. Older R-410A systems get more expensive to service as that refrigerant is phased down (new systems use R-454B). A capacitor or contactor on a newer AC is an easy yes; a leaking coil or failed compressor on a 13-year-old R-410A unit usually isn’t. We give you both numbers — no scare tactics. AC Installation →

How it works

No surprises, no pressure

01

Diagnose

We measure the system — temp split, charge, capacitor, amps — and leak-search if the charge is low. Measured, not guessed.

02

Written price

You get the findings and a fixed repair price before we start. $99 diagnostic credited toward repairs over $500.

03

Fix & verify

We make the repair and re-measure the temperature split to confirm it’s actually cooling right before we leave.

Repairs run 10–20% less on a maintenance plan, and members go ahead of the queue when it’s 98° out.

Our basement recently flooded with all the rain we had, Roman came highly recommended by the company helping us clean up. He came out the same day to make sure our HVAC system wasn’t damaged from the 3-5 inches of water we had. He was kind, professional and we were grateful he could help us on such short notice. Would highly recommend!

Very happy with Roman’s service. Our mini splits are cleaner than they’ve ever been, wish we had him clean them sooner! And they aren’t rattling anymore. He was out within a day and paid great attention to detail — He caught things that two other technicians had missed with past routine maintenance calls. Pricing was fair too! No complaints!

I’m really happy with the work. Roman and the Heisenberg team did an awesome job! Highly recommend!

FAQ

Straight answers

My AC isn’t cooling — what’s wrong?+
Common causes are a failed capacitor, low refrigerant (a leak), a burned contactor, a frozen coil, or a compressor that won’t start. They’re different fixes at very different prices — we measure to find the real one instead of guessing.
My AC is frozen / iced up — what do I do?+
Turn it off and let it thaw. It’s almost always low airflow (dirty filter or coil) or low refrigerant — running it frozen can damage the compressor. We’ll find which one and fix the cause, not just the symptom.
My AC is “low on refrigerant” — can’t you just add more?+
Refrigerant isn’t consumed, so “low” means it’s leaking. We can top it off to get you cooling, but the honest fix is finding and sealing the leak — otherwise you’re paying to refill it again, and venting refrigerant is against EPA rules.
What’s your diagnostic fee?+
$99, credited toward any repair over $500 — so if we fix it, the diagnosis effectively pays for itself. You get a written price before any work.
Should I repair or replace?+
Depends on age, the repair cost, and refrigerant. A capacitor on a newer unit is an easy fix; a leaking coil or dead compressor on an old R-410A system usually isn’t worth it. We show you the math both ways. AC Installation →
Do you work on all brands?+
Yes — all the major AC brands.
Can you come today?+
Often, yes — no-cool calls get priority when it’s hot. Call and we’ll tell you straight.
My AC runs but the house won’t cool — why?+
Usually low charge, a frozen coil, an airflow/duct problem, or a compressor losing capacity. We confirm by measuring the temperature split and charge.
