AC Not Cooling?
Same-Day Repair in Vancouver, WA
Blowing warm, iced over, or tripping the breaker? We diagnose it by measurement — temperature split, refrigerant charge, capacitor reading, amp draw — not by guessing and swapping parts.
AC problems we fix
Failed capacitor, burned contactor, a compressor that won’t start, or a tripped breaker. We measure to know which.
Low refrigerant (a leak), a dirty coil, weak airflow, or a compressor losing capacity.
Almost always low airflow (dirty filter or coil) or low refrigerant. Turn it off to thaw and call — running it frozen can kill the compressor.
Dirty filter or blower, a clogged coil, or a duct problem choking the system.
Condenser fan motor, capacitor, or contactor. The unit overheats and shuts down.
On and off constantly: charge, airflow, thermostat, or an electrical fault.
How we actually diagnose it
An AC is a sealed refrigerant loop plus a handful of electrical parts — and each fault has a measurable signature. So we measure: temperature split across the coil, superheat and subcooling, capacitor microfarads, and compressor and fan amp draw. That’s how we tell a $25 capacitor from a low charge from a failing compressor — before anyone talks about replacing the expensive part.
“Low on refrigerant” means you have a leak
Your AC doesn’t burn or use up refrigerant — it’s a sealed system. So if it’s low, it’s leaking, full stop. Topping it off gets you cold air for a few weeks or a season, then you’re paying again — and venting refrigerant is both wasteful and against EPA rules. We find the leak (electronic detector or dye), show you where it is, and give you the honest call: fix the leak or, if the system’s old, put that money toward a replacement. Your choice, with real numbers.
What it costs — and repair or replace
Credited toward any repair over $500 — so if we fix it, the diagnosis effectively pays for itself. You get the measured findings and a written price before we do the work. No “trust me,” no mystery invoice.
The call comes down to age (most ACs run 10–15 years), the repair cost against a new system, and refrigerant. Older R-410A systems get more expensive to service as that refrigerant is phased down (new systems use R-454B). A capacitor or contactor on a newer AC is an easy yes; a leaking coil or failed compressor on a 13-year-old R-410A unit usually isn’t. We give you both numbers — no scare tactics. AC Installation →

No surprises, no pressure
Diagnose
We measure the system — temp split, charge, capacitor, amps — and leak-search if the charge is low. Measured, not guessed.
Written price
You get the findings and a fixed repair price before we start. $99 diagnostic credited toward repairs over $500.
Fix & verify
We make the repair and re-measure the temperature split to confirm it’s actually cooling right before we leave.
Repairs run 10–20% less on a maintenance plan, and members go ahead of the queue when it’s 98° out.

Why “Heisenberg”?
Werner Heisenberg (1901–1976) was a Nobel Prize–winning physicist and a founder of quantum mechanics, best known for the Uncertainty Principle — there’s a hard limit to how precisely you can measure two things at once.
We borrowed the name for the opposite reason: in HVAC, guessing is the enemy. We measure everything — temperature split, refrigerant charge, capacitance, amp draw — so there’s no uncertainty your system is done right. The science of clean air.
