What we fix

Mini-split problems we fix

Error / comms codes (E1, U4…)

Indoor and outdoor units talk to each other; a comms fault, sensor, or board throws a code. We read it against manufacturer service data.

One head not cooling/heating

On a multi-zone, one head down while the others work points to that zone’s valve, sensor, or wiring. We isolate it.

Dirty, loud, or rattling head

The blower wheel cakes with biofilm: weak airflow, noise, musty smell. Often a cleaning, not a repair — see below.

Water dripping from the head

Usually a clogged condensate drain line. We clear it and check the slope so it doesn’t come back.

Not cooling at all

A refrigerant leak (flare fittings are the usual spot), a sensor, or an inverter-board fault.

Inverter / control board faults

The outdoor board is the brain — a real, pricey part, so we measure before we ever condemn it.

Musty smell or weak airflow is usually a deep cleaning, not a repair — the growth lives on the blower wheel, and no repair part fixes that. We’ll tell you straight which one you need.

How we diagnose it

Why we don’t diagnose it like an AC

A mini-split isn’t a small central AC. Most single-zone units have one service port, and the compressor is inverter-driven — it changes speed constantly — so the static-pressure reading a tech uses on a fixed-speed AC tells you almost nothing here. We diagnose the right way for the equipment: superheat and subcooling, temperature split at each head, compressor current draw, comms voltage between the units, and the actual error code against manufacturer data. That’s how you fix an inverter system instead of guessing at it.

The straight numbers

What it costs — and repair or replace

$99 diagnostic

Credited toward any repair over $500 — so if we fix it, the diagnosis effectively pays for itself. You get the measured findings and a written price before we do the work. No “trust me,” no mystery invoice.

Most mini-split problems are repairable — boards, sensors, drain lines, flare-leak fixes, and cleanings. Replacement usually only comes up with a failed compressor or inverter board on an older, out-of-warranty unit, or an R-410A system where refrigerant is getting expensive. We give you the numbers both ways and the honest recommendation — no scare tactics. Mini-Split Installation →

How it works

No surprises, no pressure

01

Diagnose

We pull the error code, measure superheat / temp split / current, and check comms between the units. Measured, not guessed.

02

Written price

You get the findings and a fixed repair price before we start. $99 diagnostic credited toward repairs over $500.

03

Fix & verify

We make the repair and re-measure each head to confirm it’s actually running right before we leave.

Repairs run 10–20% less on a maintenance plan, and members go ahead of the queue when it’s 98° out.

Our basement recently flooded with all the rain we had, Roman came highly recommended by the company helping us clean up. He came out the same day to make sure our HVAC system wasn’t damaged from the 3-5 inches of water we had. He was kind, professional and we were grateful he could help us on such short notice. Would highly recommend!

Very happy with Roman’s service. Our mini splits are cleaner than they’ve ever been, wish we had him clean them sooner! And they aren’t rattling anymore. He was out within a day and paid great attention to detail — He caught things that two other technicians had missed with past routine maintenance calls. Pricing was fair too! No complaints!

Great experience!!! Roman did maintenance on our mini split, and it works great now! He was professional, on time, and really thorough. There were some visible pipes that didn’t look great before, and he took the time to cover them up and make everything look clean and neat. The system runs smoother and quieter than ever. I’m really happy with the work. Roman and the Heisenberg team did an awesome job! Highly recommend!

I contacted Roman for air conditioner repair — an excellent specialist! He arrived on time, quickly found and fixed the issue. Everything was done neatly and professionally, and he gave helpful tips on how to maintain the AC. Very pleasant to talk to, and clearly knows his job well. The price was fair, with no unnecessary upselling. The air conditioner now works like new. Thank you, Roman! Highly recommend!
FAQ

Straight answers

My mini-split is showing an error code (E1, U4, etc.) — what does it mean?+
The code points to where the fault is — often a communication issue between the indoor and outdoor units, a sensor, or a board. We read it against the manufacturer’s service data and measure the circuit to confirm, instead of swapping parts.
One head isn’t cooling but the others are — why?+
On a multi-zone, that usually points to the down head’s expansion valve, a sensor, or its wiring — not the whole system. We isolate the zone and fix just what’s wrong.
My mini-split smells musty — is that a repair?+
Usually not — it’s the blower wheel needing a deep clean, not a broken part. We’ll tell you straight and point you to a cleaning instead of billing a repair. Mini-Split Cleaning →
Water is dripping from the indoor unit — what is it?+
Almost always a clogged condensate drain line. We clear it and check the drain slope so it doesn’t come back.
Why don’t you measure the refrigerant pressure like on my AC?+
Most single-zone mini-splits have one service port and an inverter compressor that changes speed — so an AC-style pressure reading doesn’t tell the truth here. We diagnose by superheat, temperature split, and current draw, the right way for the equipment.
What’s your diagnostic fee?+
$99, credited toward any repair over $500 — so if we fix it, the diagnosis effectively pays for itself. You get a written price before any work.
Do you work on all brands?+
Yes — all the major ductless brands.
Should I repair or replace?+
Most mini-split faults are repairable. Replacement usually only comes up with a failed compressor or inverter board on an older, out-of-warranty unit. We show you the math both ways.
