Mini-Split Installation in Vancouver, WA
We install, repair, and clean ductless mini-splits across Vancouver, WA and Clark County — and we size every one with a load calculation, not a square-footage guess. It’s owner-operated: the technician who measures your home is the same guy who answers the phone. If a central system is actually the better fit, we’ll tell you that too.
Is a Ductless Mini-Split Right for Your Home?
A mini-split isn’t automatically the right answer — and anyone who tells you it is hasn’t looked at your house. The deciding factor isn’t your square footage, it’s your ductwork. We measure static pressure and run a room-by-room load calc before we recommend anything.
- There’s no ductwork — older Vancouver homes, additions, ADUs
- Running ducts would mean tearing open walls or ceilings
- One or two rooms are always too hot or too cold
- You’re conditioning a garage, shop, or converted space
- You want independent temperature control room by room
If your existing ducts are in good shape, a central heat pump is usually the cheaper long-term call — and we’ll say so instead of selling you heads you don’t need.
Where Ductless Makes Sense
- Additions & bonus rooms — square footage the original system was never sized to reach
- ADUs & converted garages — heat and cool without extending the main system
- Older homes with no ducts — real comfort without tearing the house apart
- The one room that’s always wrong — the office over the garage, the upstairs that never cools
- Shops & workspaces — one head that heats in winter and cools in summer
- Whole-home ductless — multiple heads off one or two outdoor units, no ducts at all
Single-Zone vs. Multi-Zone
A “zone” is one indoor head serving one space with its own control. One head on one outdoor unit is single-zone. Two or more heads sharing an outdoor unit is multi-zone.
Price tracks three things, not your square footage: how many heads, how far the refrigerant lines have to run, and the outdoor unit’s capacity. That’s why we count heads and measure the runs on-site before quoting — a two-head job in an open layout and a two-head job across two floors are not the same price, and pretending they are is how you get surprised on install day.
Brands We Install — and Why Cold-Climate Rating Matters Here
We install across brands and match the unit to the job, but for heating in the Pacific Northwest we lean on Mitsubishi’s Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) line. A cheap heat pump loses capacity as it gets colder and hands off to expensive electric backup right when you need heat most. Hyper-Heat units are rated to keep producing heat down to −13°F.
Vancouver’s coldest winter mornings sit in the low-to-mid 20s°F — so a properly sized Hyper-Heat mini-split never gets near the temperature where it would struggle. Full comfort on the coldest day of the year, without watching the electric bill spike. For repair we work on all major ductless brands; for new installs we’ll walk you from entry-level to premium and tell you honestly where the extra money buys real performance.

These are estimated starting prices, not quotes — your final number depends on your home, equipment choice, head count, line-set runs, and install conditions. We confirm everything in writing after a free in-home visit. Pricing current as of 2026 and subject to change. We size your system with an in-home load calculation — square footage alone oversizes equipment.

It almost always lives on the blower wheel, not the coil — and it won’t rinse out from the front panel. Our deep clean pulls the unit apart properly. From $249.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a mini-split actually keep my house warm in winter?
Yes. We install cold-climate (Hyper-Heat) units rated to keep heating down to −13°F. Vancouver rarely drops below the low 20s°F, so a properly sized unit heats your home on the coldest morning of the year without leaning on expensive backup strips.
How many heads do I need?
One per space you want on its own control. We settle it with a load calc, not a guess — sometimes one well-placed head handles an open floor plan; sometimes you want one per bedroom.
What’s the difference between single-zone and multi-zone pricing?
Single-zone is one head on one outdoor unit (from $3,850). Multi-zone shares an outdoor unit across two or more heads (two zones from $7,850). Price tracks head count, line runs, and outdoor capacity — which is why we quote after measuring, not over the phone.
My mini-split smells musty — is that the coil?
Almost never. The growth lives on the blower wheel, deep inside the indoor head, and you can’t reach it from the front panel. It needs a proper teardown clean, not a filter rinse. Mini-Split Cleaning →
How long does an install take?
Most single-zone installs are one day. Multi-zone runs one to two days depending on head count and line routing. We pull the permit and commission the system before we leave.
Do you pull permits?
Yes. Permit and inspection are included in the price — not an extra that shows up later. A licensed contractor pulling a permit means the work is inspected to code.
What brands do you install?
For repair, all the major ductless brands. For new installs we lean on Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat for cold-climate performance, but match the unit to your home and budget — and size it correctly, so you get the performance the brand actually promises.
Do you offer financing?
Yes — 0% APR is available for qualified buyers through Service Finance, with quick approval and no prepayment penalty. Ask about monthly options when we quote.
Do you install in Vancouver, WA and nearby areas?
Yes. Heisenberg HVAC installs across Vancouver, WA and Clark County, including Camas, Washougal, Ridgefield, Battle Ground, Woodland, Hazel Dell, and Five Corners. Not sure if you’re in our area? Just ask when you reach out.
Why “Heisenberg”?
Werner Heisenberg (1901–1976) was a Nobel Prize–winning physicist and a founder of quantum mechanics, best known for the Uncertainty Principle — there’s a hard limit to how precisely you can pin down two things at once.
We took the name for the opposite reason: in HVAC, guessing is the enemy. We measure what we do — load (Manual J), airflow, refrigerant charge — so there’s no uncertainty your system is sized and set up right. The science of comfort.
